Well I’ve kind of struggled with how to get the ball rolling on something to put here. I have actually had this markdown file open in my editor for days now. An odd amount of anxiety over a page that is as of yet non-existent. Anyway, I thought what better to write about than the experience I’ve had creating the site itself. In comes…

Hugo is a static website generator written in Go. Go being one of my favorite languages to tool around in these days sold me almost immediately. Of course I also considered Jeckyll From what I could tell it mostly comes down to templating. Jeckyll and Hugo using Go.

With that out of the way I’ve been pretty impressed. The directory structure is simple and easy to understand. The templating is fairly straight forward and simple. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, and so far nothing has. Any issue I’ve had has been markdown related. As in I thought Markdown had a single syntax for a function… and it didn’t. So ignorance, heh.

So… if you’re lazy and looking for a static website generator give it a try.
